Going solar in Alberta is more economical thanks to a pro-active province who values their constituents making the switch. Why? This portfolio of rebates and funding support the province’s goals of reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and building a more resilient power grid. By making solar more affordable and accessible, Alberta aims to lower long-term energy costs, reduce strain on the electricity system, and contribute to a future less carbon intensive.

🏡 The Solar Club™
The Solar Club™ is a special energy rate program designed to maximize savings for Albertans who generate their own solar power. It offers the flexibility to switch between two electricity rates based on the season:
A higher buy-back rate of $0.30/kWh during months when your system produces a solar surplus
A lower usage rate of $0.0877/kWh during the winter or when production dips
By timing your rate switch to match your solar output, homeowners can sell excess energy back to the grid at a premium and buy it at a lower cost when needed—leading to better year-round savings, sometimes accelerating your breakeven by 3-4 years. Read more about the Solar Club here.
